When travelling at 120km/hr rev counter read 3.4. I changed engine and put a manual transmission but all other items remain automatic. I have tried everything to have rev count at 120km/hr for 3 but it just cannot go down. I have even adjusted the distributor but alas. When stationary idling is well below 1.

Most likely the transmission is geared slightly different than the automatic so it revs a bit higher than it used to. No real way to alter that. You could put a scan tool or external tachometer on it and see if the numbers match what you see on the dash but I suspect that gearing is the root of the problem.
