My car started spitting sputter then shuts off wait 15 minutes and usually starts up and can drive anywhere from 15 to 5 miles them does it again. No fuses blown. Engine light is on but has been on since I have had it says fuel temperature sensor bad. New fuel pump, stumped.

Hi,

By any chance, do you know the exact code that was found? Have any new ones shown up? If you haven't for some time, I would recommend having the computer scanned to confirm there is nothing different.

Keep in mind, this could be related to a few issues. My first suspect was the crankshaft position sensor. Then I saw the fuel temp sensor. This is used by the PCM to control the evaporative emissions system, so it could be causing the problem as well.

If you remember the code or can have it done again, let me know what is found. Also, take a look through this link and let me know if it seems to mirror what you are experiencing:

Let me know. Also, when it happens, let me know if there are any odd smells, smoke from the exhaust, or anything you can think of that seem out of place.

Take care,

Joe

P028 I believe I'll check tomorrow and it stalls and shuts off randomly happening more than usual. Do you think it may be fuel air vent?

The sensor could be related. The code will be a P and then a four-digit number. For example, it could be a P0128. There is nothing listed for a P0028, so let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

The codes are p0335 p0340. Still doing the same thing. Cleaned MAF sensor and I guess next is camshaft sensors. I guess it acts like it's starving for fuel or not enough pressure in the fuel lines.

Hi,

One code for the crankshaft position sensor and one for an oxygen sensor. If I had to guess which I would address first, I would say the crankshaft position sensor (CKP).

Do me a favor. Take a look through this link and let me know if you recognize any of the conditions mentioned.

I don't know if you have access to a live data scanner, but if you do, check the short-term fuel trims and let me know what is found.

Also, below, I attached the diagnostics for the CKP code (P0335). Let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Take care,

Joe
