My mechanic has replaced the thermostat, the flange, the water pump and my car is still heating up to the middle gauge. What else do we need to repair? The radiator is the original one, has never been replaced.

Hi,

The middle of the gauge doesn't sound like it's getting hot beyond what it should be. Tell me, has the mechanic tested the actual temperature of the coolant to determine if there is a problem? He could use an infrared thermometer to identify the coolants temperature.

If that isn't an option, the only other things left are if the cooling fans are not turning on when they should, or there is a partial blockage in the radiator slowing the coolant flow. You may want to try flushing the radiator and engine to see if that helps before replacing the radiator. Here is a link that shows how it's done:

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Hello, I have a car question. My car listed above shakes when I come to a stop sign waiting for the green light to turn on. It wants to shut off on me and I put it on neutral and press on the gas pedal so it will not shut off on me. So far it worked. But I would like to ask you what is the meaning of this? Spark plugs? I am female and widowed, do not have anyone to tell me or come up to fix it without scamming me with my money. Thank you for your reply.
Sincerely,
Martha

Hi and welcome, Martha,

I feel that we can help, but I need you to start a new thread. We try to keep the threads specific to one topic so they are more helpful to others.

Do me a favor, copy and paste your above questions at the following "new post" link below. Make sure to provide the mileage and as much info as you can think of. Also, let us know if the check engine light is staying on when the engine is running.

Thank you and I hope you understand. I will watch for your new post.

Take care,

Joe
