Hello,
This sounds to me like you have a bad headlight switch. Switches like your vehicle's headlight switch wear out with time. When they wear out things like what you described can happen. The headlight switch works by having multiple contacts within the switch. When a couple of these contacts that should have continuity between them when the switch is turned on, don't, then the switch is no good and should be replaced.
