2014 R/T. Recently the wife has been getting trapped in our detached garage. She will open the big door to remote start from the house using an old visor mount opener. She goes out with the kid to get loaded up and randomly, the garage door begins to close. She brings the visor one out with her since this started, I have a hardwired button in the garage, and her HomeLink is programmed. All three will be inoperable while the door closes. Today, it wouldn't open back up. It opened maybe a foot and froze. A few times it has started to close while she is pulling out. The car will sit and idle for 10+ minutes with zero issues with it or the door, but it seems as soon as she opens or closes doors of the car to load up or drive out, it acts up. The only thing I can possibly think of is that the HomeLink is buggered and/or the BCM is doing some funky stuff when it senses a vehicle door open or close?

I had trouble programming it. In fact, I don't recall being able to program it at all. I either couldn't get it to go into programming mode on any of the buttons or take the code. Either way, I'm going home in a few hours after work to clear the saved codes in the HomeLink unit as I distinctly remember struggling and failing to program the buttons.

She says that they do work. I have no clue how. So that's where I'm starting.

You may be right on with this one. When you open the door to the vehicle and disarm the theft system is when the home link system is active. If the theft system is on, this doesn't not operate. I suspect the button is shorted causing these crazy issues.

The only thing that you are a little off on is this is not linked to the BCM. This system operates by itself in the visor. It is simply a radio frequency that the garage door picks up. I attached the info about this system but in order to correct it, you would need to replace the visor.

I agree with you that I would clear the codes and see if that stops the crazy behavior. If not, it is because the radio frequency that the visor is putting out is the same as your door. So you could change the code for your door and other remote and see if that does the trick.

Let me know if you have questions. Thanks
