2002 GMC Yukon charging system

2002 GMC YUKON

The battery icon came on this afternoon, red color. In the owners mannual says that this could be a problem with the generator drive belt or some other charging system problem?

What would a repair job like this cost? Thanks, Chris

I need to know what is wrong with it first. Here is what I need you to do. Take the vehicle to a nationally recognized parts store and have them check the alternator. Most will do it for free, so there is no money out of pocket for you. Chances are the alt is going bad, unless you hear belt noise or it is broken.

Let me know what you find.
