1995 Chevy Cavalier Stalls in Reverse

I have an 1995 chevy cavalier 156000 miles ,sometimes when I put thr car in reverse it stalls then when it does get moving it makes kind of a rumbling noise, could it be the transmission going bad ?

With that many miles you are already due for a new tranny. You could chance a service and se if that helps but I doubt it. Good Luck
