When I was driving my car the last couple of days I've noticed that my engine temperature gauge was not in the middle. It was about 3 - 4 lines over to the left. I haven't checked the coolant levels but I haven't had any spots where I've parked so I'm not sure if the gauge is bad or maybe my coolant evaporated. Can coolant even evaporate? I'd appreciate any help you can give me with this matter.

Hi:
Coolant is designed not to evaporate; however, if you get it hot enough, it will. You said the gauge is to the left. Does that mean the engine is running cold? Also, if coolant is missing, check the engine oil to make sure it's not getting into the engine via a bad head or intake gasket.
