how can you reset the outside temperature gauge? My gauges seems to be reading about 40 degrees high.

It is self calibrating. If it always reads wrong the sensor has probably failed. There is a test procedure but you need the factory book to get it.

Generally whats involved to replace the gauge and whats the cost?
Just trying to see if its worth the exopense.

The sensor is a simple plug in part located behind the grill . The wiring runs just under the upper edge of the radiator support and across to the sensor.
