1995 GMC Jimmy no start

Fuel pump 3 years old. Have to crank for a few seconds. Will start. At other times, no click from starter, no hum from fuel pump, nothing. Radio plays and dash lights illuminate. What is the cause?

Welcome, make sure the battery has a full charge and the connections are good. The purple wire at the starter solenoid should be hot with the key in the crank position. Also, when you don't hear the fuel pump, check ecmb fuse 20 amp for voltage, that fuse circuit should be hot all the time, that supplies voltage to the load side of fuel pump relay and the oil pressure switch in the fuel pump circuit.
