I'm getting desperate. Haven't driven my pickup in six weeks. Can you help me?

I know this sounds pretty stupid, but I can't find the brake light switch on my '96 GMC truck, and my Chilton's manual is absolutely useless on this subject. Is there a mechanical switch under the dashboard at the brake pedal arm, (like on the '80's models), or is there a pressure activated switch attached to the master cylinder?

When applying the brakes, the brake lights illuminate for just a flash, then go off before enough pressure to work the brakes is applied. Please help!

Hi:
It could be either a switch on the pedal or a hydraulic switch.

Her are pictures of both. You'll be looking for one or the other.
