1995 GMC Z71/210k miles/5.7 L
I have a squealing sound coming from the engine compartment. It's more pronounced when the truck is in gear, although lightly pressing the accelerator with my hand (while in park) it squeals only briefly. It gets louder as I accelerate, speeding up to the point where it begins to sound like a tapping sound. I tried to locate the sound with the hood up pulling the throttle cable, but can't isolate it. Plus it's hard to duplicate the sound while in park. A/C on or off makes no difference. I've replaced the belt to a "gator back(?)" but it's still doing the same thing. Could this be as simple as replacing the belt tensioner or is it more complicated than that?
