1993 Geo Prizm Geo will stop running and then start-up agai

I have a 1993 Geo Prizm that just konk out last week on the highway. After sitting on the highway for about 20 minutes it started back-up and ran for about 5 minutes before konking out again. Again the Geo need to sit for awhile and than ran for about 2 minutes. I let the car sit for about 3 hours and came back to it and it ran for about 20 minutes before konking out.

When the car konks out, the engine will turn over but it seems like the car is not getting any gas. I originally thought it was the fuel pump but the inconsistent of how the long the car will run has me thinking it may be some computer chip type issue.

Please help. My Geo has been a reliable commuter car up until this point

Sounds like it is an ignition module (Ignitor). You can have them tested at most auto parts stores free.
Check for spark when this happens.

In many cases you can buy a reman'd. Complete distributor with new ignitor cheaper that the ignitor itself.

Also have the fuel pressure checked with a mechanical gauge.
