Gas pedal sticks

I have a single cab 1500, but the engine is from 1994 Chevrolet. I just went to have the smog test and it failed for the gas pedal sticking. I checked for any obstruction with floor mat, throttle cable is okay. What would be the next step?

Take choke cleaner and clean around throttle shaft inside and out of it. It may be gummy and sticking.
