Fuel pump does not prime all the time when switch is turned on. Have replacedthe following:
fuel pump
fpdm
inertia switch
ignition switch
both camshaft sensors
fuel rail presure switch
fuel filter
I am having trouble locating fuel pump relay. The repair man states that it is behind radio. Can the problem also lie with the PCM relay?

Usually somebody else will jump in with knowledge of your system.

My thing is Jeeps and other carburetor vehicles.

However, I can look stuff up pretty well!

I was able to find a diagram in "Prodemand" as to the location of the relay you requested.

See partial diagram below, upper left corner.

If you need more, let me know which ones or at least what part within so I get the right diagram.

It's also helpful if you include every bit of nomenclature of your vehicle (fictitious example- Automatic HVAC vs Manual HVAC)(or extended cab, etc) There are so many variations with this new crap! This insures that I get the correct ones.

Sorry, I cannot screenshot the whole sha-bang for you, there are way too many! I can handle a few!

Not trying to be a salesman or nuttin', but you can access your truck online (I think you sorta rent the repair manual for a period of time- country boy lingo)

I think this will get you there, if not lemme know, I try again!

Any progress?

Ok.I found a relay behind the radio and changed it out. But still didnt fix the problem
so I changed the pcm relay still no help. The only thing left in the circuit is the fuel tank pressure switch on top of the fuel tank.

Like I said, I do the older stuff.

But even doing the old stuff, I do 'Test' along the way.

You have thrown a whole bunch of stuff at this beast already!

ARE YOU TESTING STUFF? For instance are you getting voltage to things like the fuel pump relay when you actuate the key? Are you getting that 'one second' signal down at the fuel pump?

Might be that a test light might be preferred at times, as a volt meter might react too slow.

Here's some food for thought, best done before changing stuff/ even factoring in possible other fails to the system. I'm copying and pasting this from another post.

(Sorry 2carpros Renee, I'm copying it, it's in the dreaded 'all caps', like I used to do all of my posts!)

AS YOU PUT YOU HAND ON THE AUTO PART STORE DOOR HANDLE TO LEAVE, WITH YOUR NEW ONE.

TURN YOUR BUTT RIGHT AROUND, GO BACK TO THE COUNTER, AND HAVE THEM TEST "THEIR" NEW ONE 5-8 TIMES.

WHY?

THERE'S NOTHING LIKE TEARING YOUR ENTIRE JEEP CJ 5 DOWN (EVEN THE WIRING) FOR 2 DAYS, TEARING YOUR HAIR OUT. BECAUSE IT, >>>>WILL NOT START!>>BACK TO THE STORE, ONLY TO FIND OUT, >>>IT TOO IS BAD!

In my 'story' in my last reply, it was the Ignition Module that gave me a fit!

Well to answer your question (am I testing along the way?) Not only am I a mechanic. I am a licenced journeyman wireman of over 20 years. So im almost certain that I know how to trouble shoot a wiring circuit. So YES I have tested along the way. FYI it turned out that the only relay behind the radio is not the fuel pump relay after a long and nerve racking search through repaire manuels, internet sites, Q and A forumes, u tube videos, parts store clerks, and yes even the local ford dealership, no one could tell me where this damed relay is located. But a friend of mine put me on aretired ford mechanic that finaly answered my question as to where it is located. IT IS INTERGRATED WITHIN THE FUSEBLOCK ASSEMBLY.

I have one ordered it should be her in a few days.
And I will let you know if this fixes the problem. So someone else does not go through the needle in a haystack routine that I have.

Sincerly LEE G.

Wonderful!

I did not go back and finish the post that got cut half off.

In the lost part, I did say something to the affect of I was not trying to insult your intelligence, I had no idea of you capability. Without someone stating what they know or are doing we just gotta feel 'em out!

A lot of people ask questions here and have no clue as to what you are telling them, even in simple terms.

At the top of the page, there is a "New" prompt (I reckon when you ask, it asks you that question, been a long time since I asked one). Any way it comes up "Mechanic", "Knows a lot", and a few more. In the last few weeks of this being there, Seems like it really ain't being used 'truthfully', meaning they pick "Mechanic" when they shoulda picked something like, "I know how to put gas in my car!" LOL!

I try to cover all of the bases. It's really a challenge to explain a simple test, the 'asker' takes you on a world tour with what his buddies tell him to do (which he does thru 8-10 replies) The test you requested never was performed, they accidentally stumble on the 'Fix' (that the test would have found) Suddenly I'm the idiot and they are Super Wrench Guy! Sometimes it's really hard fix something over the phone or on the computer without some real hands on!

*******I apologize if I got you all flustered!********

In the beginning-I'm an Older Jeep Guy!

What is the behind the radio relay called?

Zackly what is it's mission?

I'd like to see if I can locate it in Prodemand's wiring diagram and post it! (Too late for you!)

I'd like to aid another if possible, thanks, you seem to have the same thing in mind.

Please keep us posted!
