I drove my vehicle home from work, had over a quarter tank of gas, parked it, went to leave the next day and it wouldn't start. Looked at the gas gauge and it say empty. No leaks, no one stole my gas. So I put five gallons of gas in it and the gauge never moved. So I thought the fuel pump was bad, I replaced the fuel pump assembly, hooked everything back up, put gas in it, turned the key on and off to build up pressure and still the same problem, gauge says empty, won't start. Fuses are good, tried jumping the relay and can't hear the pump kick on. Used a test light, I have power going to the fuel pump but it won't work. I'm clueless. I'm no certified mechanic, but I'm very mechanically inclined. I need help.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

If you have power to the pump and it doesn't work, my first suspect is that you have a bad ground. I have attached a picture from the wiring schematic that I need you to look at. Check the ground and the splice.

Since you checked for power, then chances are you know how to use a multi meter. See if there is continuity between the black wire from the fuel pump module to ground. Make sure the key is off and I would suggest disconnecting the battery so nothing interferes with the process. Also, make sure the plug isn't damaged or corroded.

Here are a couple links just in case you need them:

Let me know what you find.

Take care,
