We have the problem narrowed down to needing the fuel pump replaced, but are having trouble figuring out what pump to buy. There is a huge difference in cost but it seems like the pumps are very similar. It is a two tube pump assembly, some of them are $90.00 and some are $600.00. How do I know which one will work for my car? Will a less expensive pump that does not look exactly the same but still has two tubes work?

Hello, I am Danny.

It is sort of how much money you want to save. The fuel pump assembly is located inside of the tank so it does have to come out for repair. If you want to replace just the pump itself it is around $100.00 and it installs onto the assembly. If you just want to drop in the whole assembly it usually runs $300.00. The whole assembly includes the float (controls the gas gauge). That is your local auto parts stores prices. If you go to the Nissan dealer and get the whole assembly then you start getting into the $600 range for factory parts. I have attached a tutorial showing what is involved in the replacement process. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
