I was driving my car and it stopped accelerating. I can drive short distances but after driving for awhile it just starts going down in speed and eventually stalls out. I changed the fuel filter but do I need to change the fuel pump? After it sits for awhile it will start back up. I can hear the fuel pump kick on.

Hello, I am Danny.

It's possible your fuel pump is weak/failing. I would suggest performing a fuel pressure test. If you do not have access to a tester your local auto parts stores have a tool loaner program and can rent you one. I have attached a tutorial showing you what is involved. Your fuel pressure should be listed on the chart I attached. You did not specify your car's engine displacement so I attached all. The abbreviations mean KOER-(Key On Engine Running) and KOEO- (Key On Engine Off). Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions if needed. Thanks for using 2CarPros.
