pinging

my 1999 ford windstar sel has had a pinging know for about 6to 8 months seems to be turning into more like a knocking noise.Im getting bad gas mileage and a hesitation when it starts up sometimes is this all one problem or do ihave multiple problems and also can please tell me if i have aknock sensor thanks for the help if u can

You have a predetonation problem that could damage the engine. The EGR vavle is quite often the culpret. The knock sesnor will retard the timing 4 degrees. Better get it fixed. Good luck

took it to the dealer and they said my egr ports need to be cleaned found oil in my intake few months ago from my pvc valve clogged what do u think clean the egr ports. thanks alot
