My ABS light has been coming on and off for about a week. A few days ago, my air conditioning quit cooling and my speedometer and odometer stopped working. I checked the fuse and it was blown so I replaced it. Every time I put a new fuse in, the fuse blows again. What could be causing this and what can I do to fix it?

We have a long thread going about Windstar and ABS/electrical problems.

Call the NTHSA and file a complaint, if enough are filed Ford will be forced to recall this turkey!
In the mean time try unplugging the switch on the master and see if the fuse stops blowing, have it scanned for codes.

I bet it is the #10 fuse blowing, a 15 amp. The problem lies with the brake pressure switch leaking and fluid dripping down onto the wiring harness and shorting out the fuse. I would be willing to bet your cruise is out and the overdrive off light is flashing. I just had the same exact problem happen to my 2001.
Good Luck.

My 2001 Windstar blows the 19 fuse immediately after I start vehicle. Change it start it again and it blows. I error drive light flashes. I unhooked the AC pump and it still blows. I do not think it is my transmission fee or the fact it blows without even putting in gear. Does it sound like I have a short somewhere and where should I start?

Hello,

That fuse goes to the transmission gear position sensor located on the transmission near the gear selector. Here is a diagram so you can see what the fuse does and the location of the sensor and how to change it. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken
