1998 Ford Windstar PASSENGER DOOR LATCH

Interior problem
1998 Ford Windstar 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

The passenger side door latch will not close when the door is shut. I can move the latch backward with my finger when the door is open so I know it doesn't need oil or anything. I removed the door panel to see if I could find a way to access the latch system, but I can't get to it.

If you could give a few pointers I would appreciate that.

If the latch works with thedoor open, be sur eth estriker (piece in th edoor frame) hasnt moved to where the latch cant grasp it. If it (striker) is ok then getting to the latch may require window being up, and removal of the rear window guide inside the door. Regardless, there is no good clean view of the assembly while it is in the door
