My car was overheating about 2 months ago, my mechanic told me he replaced the radiator because it was rusted, and he didn't put the thermostat in, he said I didn't need a thermostat since we were having warm weather. My car started to run very badly about a month later. He is now saying I have a cracked or blown gasket and I need my radiator flushed again. How much will this cost, and was the gasket problem the result of not having a thermostat?

Did he say which gasket was blown, does Head gasket sound right? If so if the thermostat was stuck closed, it may have been your problem. Let me know!
