I had a similar problem with my 1993 f-150 2 wheel drive. I would experience a shaking between 35mph and 55mph. Nothing when going down hill, and it would stop as you let off the gas. I also noticed that it got worse as I climmed a hill, or in other words as it got a load on it.
Repair was rebuildling the torque converter. My machanic (Ryan) said there was an upgrade for this year that pumps the fluid harder to help the torque converter lock all the way up. Once the torque converter locks up properly, no more shutter.
We also did the service with new fluid and filter on the transmission.
This was not cheep, I paid $1000.00 for the total service, but that was having it done by the pro's. Ryan's Automotive in Livermore did the work. I took it on the freeway this morning and no more shutter! Please feel free to call Ryan, he does good work!
