Hey, I have an '88 thunderbird, (223k mi) and recently it's been starting rough. Today I was driving home, and while sitting at a stoplight, I tried to accelerate, and it died. I coasted into a parking lot and waited a minute, and started it back up. It had troubles starting, but with a little help from pressing the gas it started. So I started to leave the parking lot and it died on me again, after little acceleration. When I tried to accelerate it would barely go forward, like it was having trouble somewhere (obviously.) And that's when it died. Now when I try to start it, the engine turns, but it's not starting. Could this be spark plugs? I got the car for free from a buddy of mine a few months back, and aside from brakes and whatnot I haven't had any problems requiring repair work, though he did say he had just replaced the battery (for sure) and alternator(I think?) When he gave it to me. Please let me know quick what you think! :( :( :(

I am wondering if our vehicles have same engine as I am experiencing same type of problem. We have been looking at fuel system and have replaced alot. After reading up on this there were 3 recalls that could cause starting problem on our 302 engine.
Fuel Fitler and Fuel Line Replacement
Ignition switch replacement
Ignition switch short circuit
As I have looked further I have also seen many comments on ignition locks shorting out and bad coolant temp sensor. I hope this helps. Good luck
