i have a 1985 ford thunderbird 5.0, the car will start and run as long as the ignition is turned to the start possession, but once the key is returned to run the car will shut off (exact the same as turning the key off) i was told that replacing the ignition switch might work, as well as a slight adjustment to a switch that the tumbler attaches to in the column, any info is good

Hello,

It sounds like the ignition switch is worn out and will likely need replacement.

I have attached the replacement procedure below.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
