Hey, I'm trying to replace my oil pan gasket but I cant get the oil pan to drop. We removed the dust shield and all the bolts(even broke some of them trying to get them off). How can we get that oil pan to drop? Nothing seems to be holdin it up inside or out?

Sounds like a mess! Are you SURE you got all the bolts? They can hide over by the transmission! Also some go into transmission! If you got them all, it doesn't drop strate down, and it's glued on with silicone from factory so you may have to pry it loose! It's a nasty job boo to ford for this 1!

Okay I told my boyfriend what you said. He says he got all the bolts and the pan dropped but will not come off. He said there was a metal pipe in the way and when he moves it out of the way the oil pan still hangs there. He said he has tried pulling it but because its aluminum he doesnt wanna brake it and pay to replace it. Any ideas?

I only did 1 myself and it was awhile ago so I dont remember what I had to do. How many extra stuff I had to remove to jostle it off? Like I said, I dont think it drops strate down but may require side movement too?It may be hanging up on the oil pump sump tube/screen. You may want to check with some local mechanics or a ford dealer for info. You could try google too? Patience helps! You dont want to break anything!
