Question about a fuel injection flush

'95 Ford Taurus, 117000 mi-My accelerator peddle has been sticking and the car is laboring when accelerating. My dealership mechanic suggested a fuel injection flush and lube throttle body. I have another problem though-My fuel filler neck is rotted and the dealership told me the part is not available anymore. I believe I have found the part online and can have a local mechanic install it when I get it but I was wondering if it would be harmful or a bad idea to have the injection flush done while I am waiting for the filler neck to come in. The car is a real pain to drive right now.

Humm I think you should remove the big rubber duct to the throttle body, clean the inside with carb cleaner and a tooth brush. Open the throttle wide so you can clean the top and bottom of the flap and the intake area.

The car will run a little rough for a minute or so but smooth out. There is no such thing as "lubing" the throttle cable. There is a black builkup of fuel additives in the throttle body.

I would change the plugs, fuel filter, oil and air filters. Replace the bad filler neck and get on with it. At this stage I don't think a flush is necessary. A lot of times it a rip off.

Remember, back to basics.

Good luck

Okay-I don't have any experience with fixing cars-this cleaning of the throttle body-can a mechanic do it?

I already replaced the plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and my last oil change and filter was only 1500 mi's ago. I also had a fuel induction done two months ago. I just want to know if I could harm the car by having a fuel injection flush done before replacing the filler neck.

A flush is only needed about every 30Kmiles. If you can sweep a floor, you can clean the TB but yes a mechanic can easily do it.

If you put a good grade of injector cleaner in your gas about 3 times a year, especially in the spring and late fall, it will help your vehicle performance. Good luck
