My 2001 ford taurus gas pedal is laying on the floor. Checked the cable at the throttle body and it still has tension. Any one know what the issue could be?

The throttle body has it's own built in spring. The cable has to be either disconnected at either end or broken.

So there was 2 mechanisms that controlled the throttle. The one thats connected through the firewall to the gas pedal was snapped. Whats the name of this part? Throttle cable?

That is the throttle cable. The other one is the cruise control.

If the cruise control broke would that cause the pedal to be floppy and lying on the floor?

Thanks! I had ordered the throttle cable on a whim (i dont really know that much about cars) and I was right. However the dealer gave me the cruise control cable which really threw me off. Thanks for all your help!
