Coolant running out of resevoir

I have a 1998 ford tarus with 226,000 miles. While driving car runs find the temperature gauge reads normal. But if you turn engin off the resevoir for coolant runs over.

What happens if you don't refill the reservior?

Sometimes they only want so much in the system and kick out the excess.

After car cools check the radiator. If that looks low add to the radiator. My F150 did the same I now no longer fill the resivor I pour straight to the radiator.
