My girlfriend just recently purchased a 94 Ford Taurus. On the drive home I was noticing that her rear right tire was hoping off the ground at high speeds. Low speeds its not noticiable visibly or by feel inside the car. When going over speed bumps the rear almost bottoms out and continues to bounce for a few moments. I can push the trunk far down to almost touch the pavement on the right side but the left is a little more difficult. When realesed it bounces again for a little bit. My initail thought is this is a blown shock. I bring this to this forum with hopes of a confermation of this or perhaps an alternitive opinion. Please help.

You have struts all the way around the sedan, struts and shocks on the wagon. Could be a combo of blown strut or shock and broken spring, Taurus is notorious for breaking springs, not sure why, age and rust possibly, my son's 93 Taurus just had all the springs replaced, it was time for inspection, I asked him how's the car running and any issues with it? Of course he says no it's going great. Take it to my buddy's shop, ouch 3 springs are broken, my kid says, duh, I didn't notice anything, I never really look too close at the car myhself unless he brings it with some issue. If your car is bouncing, usually that's a sign of a blown strut or shock, sometimes it can be extremely dangerous, especially when you drive hard into a turn, the car will start bouncing and you could actually lose control. I've seen plenty of cars bouncing around in the corners, it's amusing to see in one sense, but I know that it's not a good thing. After seeing the same car for a few weeks I just assume the people don't have the $$$$ to get it fixed, it isn't cheap if struts or springs are involved.
