Hi I have a 2001 ford taurus with 70,000 miles.I bought this car about 2 months ago and have had a problem since I drove it home from georgia. The check engine light came on. On the way home. It runs and drives ok until the c.E.L. Starts flashing, then it starts running rough and misses at idle. The c.E.L. Only flashes when I have come to a stop at a light or stopped in traffic, then when I go to accelerate it is like it is not getting fuel and it is very slow to accel. I did all the normal routine repairs like, plugs, air filter, fuel filter. Did a scan and came up with p0305{misfire cyl 5. Toke it to ford dealer they put it on diag. And said low compression on cyl 5 and 6. My husband did a comp. Check and cyl 5 has 120 and cyl6 had 140. So we thought either burnt valve, carbine build up or bent valve.I happened to talk to a lady who has a the same year taurus and she had the same issues and she had faulty inj. So my question is could that be our problem?Couls inj cause low comp?We have bought 2 new inject. And were going to switch out the old ones and see if thats the problem. What is your opinion? Are we waisting our time with the inj?Thank you for your time leanna webb

Usually, when you have two adjacent cylinders with low compression, it indicates a possible blown head gasket. Are you mysteriously losing any coolant?
If you check your dipstick, does it look muddy?
You may consider doing a coolant pressure test, which involves a hand pump that fits over the radiator cap opening. Basically, you manually pump it (engine off, of course) until you get 15psi. Then you see how long it takes for the needle to drop. If it drops more than 1 psi per minute, then you have some form of coolant leak, either internal or external.

If you can't find any external leak, then you probably have either an intake manifold leak, or blown head gasket. A leaky intake manifold, however, will not cause the coolant to mix with the oil.
