Engine Performance problem
2001 Ford Taurus Front Wheel Drive Automatic 163000 miles

I have a tarus for some reason when I acclirate the engine makes a noise like its strugling. It doesn't run like it used to. Before I couldn't even tell if the engine was running but now I can feel that the car is strugling. I did a tune up new spark plugs and wires. New fuel filter. New coil pack. I have always taken good care of this car. I don't want to let it go. Is there anything I can do to fix this.

Well I was talking to this guy he said do a complete TLC. For example change head gasket, valves, flush the fluids. But I have never flushed my transmisson fluid and my car has 162k miles on it and i've heard its not a good idea if you never flushed before. I can change the tranny filter but I don't know if it will make a difference. But I want to keep my car long time what can I do other than changing oil, oil and fuel filters, plugs and wires. Is there anything else I can do.

Basic maintenance should keep you going for as long as mechanically possible
checking fluids and replacing oil and filter
checking hoses
check tranny fluids if burnt have the oil and filter change if not leave it along

I've never flushed a tranny always replaced fluid and filter
some quick stop and run oil change shops offer services like that where they remove some fluid through the dip stick area and call it tranny flushing
I do not believe in that
always drop pan and remove fluid and filter and replace

I was told it will ruin my tranny if I do that because my car has 162,000 miles on it. And I have never done this before he told me leave it be.

Its up to you
I cant see how changing tranny filter and fluid is going to ruin it,

as it is recommended to be done by the manufacture I research my maintenance pages and its recommended to be done at 150k so your not much of

if your tranny is going to fail its not because you had the fluid and filter changed
