I have a Ford Taurus which has been running great. Today, I am reversing down a street about a block as it was a construction site and the car starts puttering like it wants to stall out. It doesn't actually stall out. It drives perfectly fine in drive and no lights came on or anything. The oil changes and all maintence is up to date and precise.

I tired the "silly sounding test" and the reverse lights don't go dim and the radio does not shut off. Also, the car has to be driven a pretty far distance before it starts to act funny. I had a mechanic drive it too and what happens is after about a half a block of driving in reverse it makes kind of a whining noise, doesn't want to accelarate to a faster speed. The mechanic told me that he thinks it may be something with the computer not wanting to read it right but he has never experienced anything like this b/c he has never had to drive a car like that for so long in reverse. Also, he said other than that the car runs great. So. Let me know what you think and thank you for all of your help!
