I need to know the easiest way to get the air compressor off and I need to know if you can tell me if the compressor is burnt up or is the clutch bearings out. Last night my sister was driving it down the road with the air on and it started making a loud loise and then went to smoking real bad under the hood. I have checked the compressor and it will not kick in and start running and can turn the bearings on the front of it with my hand until it locks up.

Can you turn the pulley ok. If you can turn the pulley, then the compressor is bad. If the pulleyis hard to turn, but you can turn the compressor clutch, then the bearings are bad. Either way, the best way to remove it is from underneath, but remove the fan and shroud and take it up in front of the radiator.
