Heater problem
1999 Ford Taurus Engine Size unknown Front Wheel Drive Automatic 133000 miles

When I start my car and turn the heater on it works proplerly at the degree I set it at. After about 10 miles the heater kicks warm air only out of the defroster-much too warm and uncontrollable. At that point you cannot turn the heater off, change the temperature or where the heat comes out. You also cannot turn the radio off, change the radio station, or turn the volume up or down. When I press the button to turn the heat off the display goes off but the heater continues to throw heat out. This problem occurred about a year ago but only lasted a day or two, and has been working fine since then till about a week ago.

Sounds like either a bad heater control head or the body module or sometimes called a g.E.M.
