I ran out of gas twice. After that my car would lose power when I accelerated after idling for 10-15 minutes or driving for 20-30 minutes. It did this off and on for a couple weeks, then it got so bad that car would die in the middle of the street. I could start it up again then now my battery died. What do you think it is.

Since the pump is in the tank and cooled by the gas surrounding it, you may have overheated the pump, check the fuel pressure this way...Autozone will rent the tool for free, you are refunded your money upon tool return.

Check your fuel pressure before and after the fuel filter-could be the pick up sock/ strainer in the fuel tank clogged-up.

Could also be a charging system or battery problem-
