There is a foamy mixture in my coolant overflow container.I checked the oil cap and it's clean.I haven't driven the car for several months but I do start it up and idle. It is a 3.8 liter. Head gasket was changed by Ford years ago.I had no issues with it when I did drive. Could it be tranny fluid?

It could be ATF if there is a problem in the radiator or oil from the engine if there is a bad head gasket. Is the engine running good? Have you checked the transmission fluid to see if it is still full and clean?

The engine runs good.I've owned the car since 1999 and never changed the radiator. The tranny fluid is full and clean.I haven't started the car since I saw the overflow dirty.

Are you sure the system doesn't just need serviced?
