Engine problem
1991 Ford Taurus Engine Size unknown Front Wheel Drive Automatic 62,000 miles

Started the car. Two bangs up front, car stalled. It started back up fine, but is blowing a lot of white smoke when I accelrate. Drove home a few miles without problem. Now I wonder what is wrong, if it's expensive, and if it is OK to drive a few days before I get it in the shop.

Could be a blown head gasket, or cracked head or block, have a block test done, this will tell you if any exhaust gases are present in the cooling system, A radiator pressure tester can also be used to check for a head gasket.
