hi guys, i am having trouble diagnosing a problem. my engine light is on. when i scan for codes it comes up with " bank 1 lean " i am having trouble figuring out what is causing this. the symptoms are: poor fuel economy, engine idle speed is usually too high or it is loping and it lacks the usual power.
any ideas?

i ask this question once before but i recieved an uneducated guess, i suppose.
4.0 L engine in 2003 does not have an EGR valve so the DPFE does not exist. Intake vacuum is ok. PCV is electronic and connections are ok. MAF is clean and fuel pressure is high. TPS checks out as well as IAC.

any ideas would be appreciated

First of all ill have to say to your other topic, rasmataz the one who answered your topic is one of the most credible technicians out there. it wasnt a guess it was a wide description of what is wrong and would give you lots to look out.

secondly

sounds to me like a vaccum leak, too much air coming in past the maf sensor and the o2 readings and maf readings are not matching up.
also would be causing the high idle.

understandable that there could be a vacuum leak but it turns out that the problem was a collapsed vacuum line that connected to the crankcase ventilation. thanks for your help, it did help me narrow things down by having me recheck everything more closely.
