2001 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I bought a 2001 Ford Ranger, my transfer case was gone when I bought it. How do I know which one to put back in it beacuse there are so many transfer cases that will interchange with it? My vin numer is 1FTZRI5E8IPA45798

If there were different transfer cases made for the same year make and model, then you need to contact a dealer for them to identify which one you need based on the vin. Also, it should be stamped on the transder cased itself. Usually there is a steel label near where the fluid level is checked.
