Hi, in the past few months my gas mileage has taken a big dive, from 320 miles per tank to under 300. I have noticed a lot of jerking when I accelerate as well as a loss in power when I accelerate from a stand still. Someone said it might be the catalytic converter. Any advice? Also if it is the catalytic converter how hard is it to replace?

The converter isn't that hard to replace, but they are expensive. Make sure that is the problem before doing it. Most common symptom of a bad converter is loss of power and they will get so hot that they will glow red.

Has the check engine light come on?

Let me know.

I have just lost the power and gas mileage. The check engine light hasn't come on. I was talking to others and they suggested changing the spark plug wires. I changed spark plugs about 10,000 miles ago. What do you think?
