I have a 1998 ford ranger 3.0 and it is making a very loud knock/screach. I have taken the serpinteen belt off and it still makes the noise. I have taken the oil pan off and replaced the crank and rod bearing and the oil pump. I didnt see any metal shavings in the bottom of the pan. After I put it all back together it still makes the noise. It sounds like it is coming from under the intake manifold. The oil levels are perfect. I can not find out the problem for the life of me. So could you help me out.

Can you record the sound then PM me I will give you my email. And I will listen to the noise, but if you dug that deep, it sounds like you know your way around a wrench!

Nope man no turbo it is only a 3.0 liter v 6 with only 60,000 miles. I was wondering could it possibly be the oil pressure relief valve?
