I have a 1996 ford ranger with 3.0 6cyl motor 2wheel drive. My question is I need to replace the oil pan, and I was told that I need lift & remove the motor to do this

Hi there,

You have to raise the engine approx 2" to give adequate clearance to remove sump, the engine should be at TDC No1. Remove the R/H axle assembly, remove cam shaft position sensor noting position & electrical connections, remove starter, remove transmission inspection cover, remove low oil level switch wire, undo mount bolts and raise carefully about 2" remove sump bolts. Separate sump being careful not to damage the oil pick up tube.
