Is there a neutral safety switch in a manual. Here is the problem. When you start the truck you have to push the clutch in, but here the last month or so you really have to mash the clutch down hard, and even then sometimes it wont start. The truck will start if I put it in neutral and jump across the solenoid. If there is some kind of switch can I bypass it. Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Manual transmission vehicles have a clutch switch. That gets triggered when you press the clutch, it sends signal to the ECM and allows the vehicle to start.

This switch is located under the clutch pedal (see diagram).
First make sure it is connected securely. Check the connectors and look for any corrosion or damages wires.
A loose connector can trigger similar issue that you are experiencing.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
