Just recently I have noticed a whinning sound coming from the front of my truck. When I first start my truck I can'thear it but after I drive down the road a ways it starts. It usually starts while accelerating and persists when at a complete stop. The noise will stop if I sit at a stop for a long enough period of time. What could the problem be?

I'm going to start with the basics. Is the accessory belt tight and in good condition? Is the power steering fluid full? Finally, have you noticed any coolant leaks?

Yeah the belt is tight and the power steering fluid is full and I haven't noticed any leaks. The other day when I checked the power steering fluid it kinda smelt burnt. That was making me think it was the power steering pump?

I want you to try a test. Remove the serp belt and see if the sound is gone. NOTE: Only run the engine a few seconds. It WILL OVERHEAT.

Let me know what you find. If the sound is gone, check to see if there is any play in the accessories' pulleys.
