Hello, I recently purchased a 1996 Ranger 4cyl automatic 107K miles. It was a fleet vehicle here on post and never left the post. Top speed on post is 50mph. This truck runs great a low speed but when you get it on the highway the O/D off light flashes. Code scan shows stuck O/D solenoid. When you shut the vehicle off and restart it goes back to normal. Transmission seems to chage gears erratically at no special interval once over 50 mph.. Any help is appreciated as I would like this to be my Daughters 16th Bday gift.

hi. if you had it scanned, and the code was for a stuck sol. then this is the prob.
now to fix this prob you will need too remove trans pan and you will see a lot of parts the sol is under one of these valve body,s. these are very complicated and precise torque must be followed.
or your trans will not work at all. buy a manual before you start this project... billymac
