1994 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 150k miles

I am at my wits end with this problem. My 4x4 94 Ranger w/4.0 engine becomes unresponsive to the throttle at highway speeds. I can be cruising along at 60mph and the engine losses power and rpms start dropping off. I have to down shift and pump the gas to get speed back up. Or sometimes it will buck and not accelerate while in low gears, say while taking off at a light. I have replaced the following: fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, throttle position sensor. Plugs and wires, air filter, pvc valve and none of these has corrected the problem. I am also getting terrible gas milage. I have looked at the computer codes and they indicated that both banks were running rich and lean. And that there was a 502 or something with the ground with the fuel pump. I have replaced the pump. I do not have a check engine light on either. Please if you can steer me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Sounds like the Mass Airflow Meter is going out. It measures the amount of air entering the engine and when it starts to read out of range the engine will go rich and lean due to the MAF saying the mixture is this, but the o2 sensors are reading something else

Hey, rcaulkins. Did you get this figured out? I have the same truck (94 4.0L V6 Manual 4x4, 189K miles) with a similar issue. There is intermittent power loss in low gears from time to time (I live and work in town so I never take it past 45mph anyway, so I haven't tested it at highway speeds yet). Sometimes there are surges (bucking) when trying to accelerate as well. I noticed, however, that if I put my foot to the floor the truck "catches" and begins accelerating normally when I back off the throttle a little. However, the problem has been more and more frequent and getting worse.

It may be unrelated, but I also have a hard time shifting when she's warm. The Clutch is wearing out, too, so that's what I attribute the shifting issue to. Could be wrong, though.
