Hi all,

I just had a question. I'm having an issue where my engine seems to be getting too much gas (i.E. Running too rich) which causes it to bog down. I believe that this is probably caused by the O2 sensor being bad.

My dad, who does the majority of my vehicle repairs, asked me if the truck has one or two O2 sensors. I have no idea. It's a V6 2.9L engine. I was wondering if anyone here could clarify if this truck had one or two, and if anyone could tell me where they might be located so I can replace them (I haven't picked up a repair manual yet).

Thanks for your help.

Hi Link00seven,Welcome to 2carpros and TY for the donation.

The oxygen sensor is located in the exhaust manifold, near flange.See below: They dont have a diagram for a 2.9L for some reason, but it will be in the exhaust manifold in pretty much the same location

Probable causes of an engine running rich are as follows:

1.Fuel pressure not within specs. Can be cause by restricted fuel return line or defective fuel pressure regulator.
2.Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3.Leaking injectors.
4.Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5.Restricted air intake system.

Looks like only one then.

That diagram really helps. I'll look into those options and hope I can isolate the issue.

Thank you for your reply. I always appreciate the help.
