I have a 2001 Ford Mustang Conv. 6cly with 82000 miles on it. My car has been running just fine till the other day when I go out to crank it, and it won't fire up. The Car turns over but it won't fire. My first thought is to change the fuel pump. I get to talking to the car guy at the auto store, and he asked if the Theft light keeps blinking fast when I'm trying to start. Which it does. He told me to reset it and see what happens. Well.I don't know how to reset it, and I don't know what happens if I reset it and it still doesn't work. This is the only car that my wife and I have. And it needs to be going. Soon. :

It could be the passive anti-theft. There is a chip in your key. If the ignition doesn't sense the key, it won't start. Try this, turn the key to the on position, not start position. Wait 30 seconds and then turn the key all the way to start. Let me know if this works.

Here's a link to more info on the Ford anti-theft system. This is procedure for Ford mechanics to troubleshoot the system. If your light is blinking fast when trying to start, and you tried what I told you in the previous post, you'll have to take it to Ford to get it fixed.

Well.I tried.I went to the ford dealer and talked to them if there was a way to reset it. Or was I sunk. He told me that it is not a rare thing for that model of mustang to forget a key. And Seeing that when I got it last year I only had one key.I now have to get it towed to them, and they'll fix it. For 99 to 250 bucks. Then if that doesn't work.I'll replace the fuel pump.
