Transmission problem
2002 Ford Mustang 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

Is there a difference between automatic transmission fluid and manual trans fluid?My mechanic says no.But why else would they sell them seperate?

Hi there,

yes there are different types of oils for all transmissions, some manual transmissions can use a Dextron transmission oil, which is more of a hydraulic oil (red) rather than heavy gear oil. There are specific transmission auto oils as well, so it is very important that you do have the correct oil in your transmission.
